Apple has released the macOS Big Sur version 11.2.1 for everyone to fix a bug that could prevent some charging issues on some MacBook Pro models manufactured in 2016 and 2017. It must have been fairly frequently reported problem because the company has dedicated an update to solve it.
macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 is released to fix charging issues
Despite that, the update is also available for all other Big Sur compatible computers. Therefore, it is likely that there will also be general stability and performance improvements. There are no updates to any other Apple operating system, this is only for macOS.
Apple Macbook Pros are receiving a new update
The macOS Big Sur is the first macOS of the Apple Silicon era, the protagonist of the beginning of the transition from Intel chips. M1 is compatible with both architectures and its main new feature has been a design change throughout the interface, although it also offers the possibility of running iOS and iPadOS applications on Macs with an M1 chip.
As this is a stable release, we recommend that you upgrade as soon as possible either by letting the process happen automatically or you can do it manually through System Preferences (‘Software Update’ panel). Of course, the update is free of charge.
