In the global presentation of the new Xiaomi Mi 11, we also learned more details about MIUI 12.5, it will be possible to remove pre-installed apps if you don’t like them.

There are some interesting improvements in the new user interface of the famous Chinese brand, but the most interesting one is probably the ability to uninstall any pre-installed native app easily.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.5 will let you remove pre-installed native apps

We already knew some of the new features of the new MIUI 12.5, but Xiaomi has unveiled some more notable changes. The company claims that the memory usage will be reduced up to 20%, the CPU usage will be reduced up to 22% and energy consumption of system applications will also be reduced up to 15%.

You will not be able to uninstall “Core Apps”

Thanks to the new scheme of this system, touch gestures will be prioritized, this way, response times and fluidity are theoretically going to be improved.

However, the most striking feature is in the uninstallable applications. Except for some key applications such as phone, clock, camera, or settings, the rest can be uninstalled and even completely removed. Thus, we will be able to uninstall the compass, note editor, weather forecast, or calculator, and even the theme editor or the file explorer.

Xiaomi compared its UI with other manufacturers.

This will allow any user to replace these preinstalled applications with other alternatives. In the presentation, Xiaomi explained other customization options by comparing their UI with the OneUI of Samsung and even other platforms such as iOS 14.2.1 that have applications fully protected against uninstallation.

MIUI 12.5 will be deployed in the second quarter of 2021 for the Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Mi 11, and will later come to other models as well.
