Netflix is testing a new feature called sleep timer on its Android app. Are you one of those who watch Netflix series and movies on your smartphone? If so, this may interest you, thanks to this feature you’ll be able to set a time limit before you go to sleep, this way you’ll not be stuck on your favorite series for hours.

What does Netflix sleep timer feature offer?

With this feature, users can set a specific viewing time to avoid missing chapters or content, while at the same time sleep timer allows you to save battery on your smartphone since, after a period of time the application stops.

For the moment a small group of users can participate, as it is a limited test, and intended only for adult profiles (Kids profiles are not included), although from the platform they plan to extend it to other types of devices, including smart TVs and desktops.

How to use the sleep timer feature of Netflix on the Android app?

Currently, there are four options to choose from: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or when the content you have playing ends. Do you want to try this feature? These are the steps you should follow (if you are one of the chosen ones in the test):

  • Choose a show or movie on your smartphone.
  • In the upper right corner, subscribers will see a clock icon that is called Timer.
  • Tap on Timer.
  • Select 15, 30, 45 minutes, or Finish Show.

This feature will open a range of possibilities, although we do not know if Netflix contemplates adding something similar to the profiles intended for kids’ accounts.

In any case, it is a good initiative that, if the test becomes successful, will become available for the rest of the users, and may also be expanded to other types of devices.
