- Open Instagram.
- Click on your profile picture.
- Tap on the three stripes on the top right.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Privacy.
- Look for the option called Activity Status.

Once the online status is deactivated, when you enter Instagram messages, no one will be able to see if you are currently online or not. This status is hidden for all contacts within your network and if you have a public account on the social network, anyone who is going to send you a message, will not be able to see your online status at any time.
