LEGO VIDIYO is the latest from the well-known toy company to allow children from 7 to 10 years old to unleash their creativity in the creation and production of their own music videos just like TikTok. The app uses augmented reality, and the musical content in the app will be available thanks to the collaboration of LEGO and Universal Music Group (UMG).

The company points out that it is a safe platform for children, combining the physical and digital worlds for minors to direct, produce, star in and share their own music videos, integrating parental controls and external moderation functions that prevent children from publicly sharing those creations that could lead to personal identifications.

LEGO said that any content with personally identifiable information, such as children starring in the video, will not be approved for sharing in the app’s feed, but can be stored locally in the app for in-person enjoyment with friends or family.

In addition, it will have challenges and challenges that encourage children to create amazing and dynamic productions taking advantage of the passion they have for their favorite music.

The most interesting thing is that they will have to scan some minifigures to bring them to life with the help of augmented reality, and make use of the special effects through the so-called BeatBits, which are a series of physical squares with Lego elements that children will have to place in the scenarios they will scan for their productions, and that serve to unlock the digital effects to then select them in the mobile application.

Lego promises that over time they will add more challenges, UMG musical themes and content that will inspire children, but to begin with, they point out that the first LEGO VIDIYO products will be available from March 1 in most countries around the world.

Julia Goldin, Marketing Director of the LEGO Group said “Research shows that more than three quarters (79%) of parents around the world want their sons and daughters to be more creatively confident, so we are launching LEGO VIDYO to help make it happen. We know that children are always looking for new ways to experiment creatively, and LEGO VIDIYO is here to help all children with a passion for music unleash their creativity through LEGO construction and music video production.”
