The CEOs of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg; Apple, Tim Cook; Amazon, Jeff Bezos; and Google, Sundar Pichai were invited to Brussels for a European Union hearing to discuss their competition practices. The invitation seeks to have a discussion with the four members of the largest Internet companies ahead of new regulations being planned by the European Parliament.
Google, Apple, Amazon and Facebook are invited to European Union
The hearing will take place on February 1st and the information provided by the companies will be used to analyze the best way forward for a series of reforms that will seek to help companies that want to compete with these companies.
Since the four CEOs were invited to the hearing, but are not really obliged to participate, it is not believed that any of them will attend, especially considering that some of these companies have open legal proceedings with related issues in other countries and must be careful with what they say in events and other public spaces.
Sudar Pichai, CEO of Google, for his part will have a call with the head of the antitrust commission, Margrete Vestager, on January 25, where they are expected to discuss the new rules and the company’s strategies in the face of competition.
