Despite the fact that only a few months have passed since the recent arrival of ROG Phone 3, there have been numerous rumors about a new ASUS next-generation gamer smartphone. But the most interesting thing is that it seems like this new device of ASUS will not be called ROG Phone 4, but instead, it will be called ROG Phone 5.
The leaked image of Asus ROG Phones 5 is here
As we can see in the image below, we are looking at a phone that has a similar look to its predecessor, with smoothed profiles on which a small, angled islet for the cameras and flash stand out in addition to the presence of some RGB lighting additions.
However, the most interesting thing about this leak is the huge “05” engraved on the back of the phone. Anecdotally, the number 4 is considered a harbinger of bad luck in China due to its similarity to the word “death”. Maybe this is why ASUS chooses to name this device ROG Phone 5.
Possible specs of the Asus ROG Phone 5
ROG Phone 5 will probably have a screen design quite similar to its predecessor, with a 6.59-inch AMOLED FullHD+ panel with a flat finish (412 x 933 pixels) supported by a 144Hz refresh rate, which could be increased to 300Hz.
It might come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, with different versions that will start from 8GB RAM.
As we saw in the leaked image, the ROG Phone 5 will repeat with a triple camera configuration, where we don’t expect major changes. It’ll probably have the same 64MP main camera. However, there are new rumors about the front camera. Although it seems unlikely that the company will opt for a camera under the screen.
Finally, we will also see a powerful 6,000 mAh battery, this time renewed to double its efficiency with a fast 65W charge.
So, ASUS is expected to share new details about its phone over the next few weeks, aiming for an official launch by mid-year.
