ASUS has just shed some light after having listed the RTX 3080 Ti 20GB and RTX 3060 12GB, after many rumors about the possible arrival of two new graphics cards between the 10GB RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. RTX 3080 Ti 20GB and RTX 3060 12GB are listed on ASUS website
At the moment these four models have only been viewed on the company’s support website, and not among the products currently available for purchase. However, since the vast majority of rumors pointed to a release date within this month, it would not be surprising if we see the first units available during the first weeks of the new year.
Without any official details yet, it is expected that the new version of the RTX 3080 Ti equipped with 20GB of VRAM, will be built on the same 320-bit wide GDDR6X memory interface, possibly adding the use of two 8 Gbit by 32-bit path memory chips, the same method will be used probably with the RTX 3090 reaching 24GB (in its case with a 384-bit memory bus).
On the other hand, while the 12GB GeForce RTX 3060 also uses a similar approach, it seems like that in this case they will do it by keeping the use of a GDDR6 memory, which is expected to contain only 3840 CUDA cores in its GA106 chip, and therefore will run out of shading and RT power long before the VRAM array is exhausted.
We’ll keep you informed about the release date and price of RTX 3060 12GB and RTX 3080 Ti 20GB, everybody is waiting for the official statement.
