ViewSonic announced the optimization of several of its monitors to make them compatible with the new generation consoles. Well, actually to make it only compatible with the PlayStation 5. And while Xbox Series X|S consoles are capable of handling native video outputs at 1080p, 1440p and 2160p resolutions, PlayStation 5 only offers an output signal of 1080p and 2160p, leaving aside those who use a 2K monitor. So users will really play a 1080p resolution rescaled to 1440p can see a loss of visual quality.
The solution to this problem is that the PlayStation 5 console detects the Quad HD / 1440p monitors as if they were 4K monitors. So we have a native 4K image output that is reduced to 1440p, to not lose visual quality and to offer compatibility with 4K game modes. Also we won’t be limited to 1080p modes, which are usually High-Performance Modes that lower the graphic quality to favor a higher rate of frames.
