Netflix introduced an audio-only mode, turning favorite series into podcasts

In October it was revealed that Netflix was working on introducing a unique audio-only mode for its Android app. Thanks to this mode, users will be able to play the contents of the application with only the audio, not the video, to save data. The series will turn into almost podcasts with this mode in the app.

It was not known when this audio-only mode would be launched in the Netflix app, but the time has come. Some users in the Android app already have access to this mode in their accounts, although at the moment it is somewhat limited to a few, pending its general deployment.

What to do if Netflix audio mode doesn’t work on Android?

If the audio mode of the Netflix app on Android doesn’t work or you have problems using it, there are a number of solutions to try to fix the bug.

Netflix is starting to deploy audio mode among some users, although it seems that this is a server-side upgrade, so it will take a while to reach all users. In the playback window you can see a new button to turn off the video, so only the audio is left. When you click on this button, the screen goes blank, showing the playback controls.

Besides, in the application settings there is already an Audio Only option to activate this exclusive audio mode. The app allows you to choose when to have this mode activated: always, with headphones or external speakers or to have it deactivated. Each user will be able to choose when to use this new mode in their case.

The Netflix audio-only mode can help reduce the app’s mobile data consumption. In addition, the contents in the app become a kind of podcast by having only the audio. It is not a mode that is ideal for any content, but in some like comedy series or live comedy shows it can be a good option to consider.

This feature is being deployed from the server side, so you may have to wait a while until you can use it on your account. The only thing you can do at the moment is make sure you have the latest version of the app installed on your Android phone and wait for it to arrive.
