Apple wants to remove the lightning cable, after the EarPods and the charger. The truth is that in recent years Apple has starred in a series of small controversies around components of the iPhone. The first was the 3.5mm mini-jack, when iPhone 7 was out. It was replaced with a wireless Airpods that have become a bestseller of the brand. However, while users were thinking about using wireless headsets, they had to use an adapter to continue using the old EarPods or any other wired headphones.
But it wasn’t until this year that Cupertino’s made a real leap forward in terms of the accessories. They removed the charger as well. They look like they won’t be the last and will leave the box of future phones practically empty.
In 2021 will we say goodbye to the Lightning cable?
Now Apple is sending out some surveys to its iPhone 12 users to find out what they think about some of the current details of their smartphones. These are a series of questions that will act as a sort of probe balloon about Cupertino’s intentions for future generations of cell phones. A “do you use ‘this’ regularly,” might end up with more accessories disappearing if the results point in the direction that Apple expect.
Now Lightning to USB-C cable that is included in the iPhone 12 box might be a thing of past soon.
- How to mute your iPhone based on location or time?
- More problems for iPhone 12: Battery drains very fast in standby mode
- You can now use Apple Music within the Google Assistant
Be that as it may, this survey not only asks about the only cable that iPhone 12 already includes in its box but about other items such as Face ID and even that small piece of metal so useful that it serves to open the SIM card tray.
