Microsoft has just announced that the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cloud gaming service will be coming to iOS in the spring of 2021. It is an announcement that is sure to please many users.
As we already saw a few months ago Game Pass will not arrive as an application but it will via a browser for Apple devices.

“In Spring 2021, we will take the next step in our journey to reach more players around the world by making cloud gaming as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate available on Windows PCs through the Xbox app and browser, and iOS devices through mobile web browser.
By adding over a billion devices as a path to playing in the Xbox ecosystem, we envision a seamless experience for all types of players; whether it’s playing Minecraft Dungeons with your Xbox friends using touch controls on an iPhone, or jumping into a Destiny 2: Beyond Light strike on a Surface Pro when you have a break between meetings,” Microsoft explained.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for iOS devices
Until recently the rules of the App Store did not allow to offer cloud gaming apps, something that changed a few months ago. This way platforms like Microsoft reached the iOS devices. With the change in rules, if Microsoft wants to bring its platform as a native app, it should have to send each game individually to the App Store in addition to its “catalog” app where access is centralized.
Of course, performance is a big question mark in our heads. Can the browser version of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offer the same performance? In any case, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is coming to iOS devices in Spring 2021, we might see it in the App Store in the future.
