Oppo takes a big step in terms of innovative technologies and patents a new smartphone with removable camera module. Other phone manufacturers seem more focused on exploring different screen formats, Oppo takes a different direction. These components can stand out with its performance and its form factors. Oppo brings a new innovative technology: A smartphone with a removable camera
According to the latest patent registered at the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), it seems that the Chinese company has begun researching the possibility of creating a removable camera module. This module will allow us to disassemble and reposition the camera on our smartphones depending on our needs.
On the other hand, this design might make it possible to take a normal picture or a selfie, without having to sacrifice screen or image quality.
The images and patent description show that this potential future smartphone will have a rear camera module that can be removed from the back panel. This module can be used to take a selfie using a USB Type-C connector. Also WiFi or Bluetooth support is hinted, so remote use might be possible too.
In addition, the USB connector located on the module will have a small elbow that will allow it to bend at least two fixed angles of 90 degrees and 180 degrees, slightly expanding the shooting options.
Again, the appearance of this patent does not imply that Oppo will add this smartphone to its product roadmap. The company is already known to have abandoned other innovative projects such as the Oppo Find X pop-up camera in favor of a more conventional matrix in the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
On the other hand, let’s not forget the recently presented rollable phone concept. This is project is likely to happen, since the company seems open to innovative ideas.
