WhatsApp now allows you to mute groups and chats permanently. From now on, WhatsApp will offer three options when it comes to silencing a group: eight hours, one week and forever. Thus, the option to mute for one year is eliminated. The function is already available in iOS and Android.
The process for silencing a group or chat forever is exactly the same as before, there is no change in that aspect. Simply find the conversation in question, click on “Mute” and choose the option “Always”. By doing so, as we already know, WhatsApp will stop notifying us of all incoming messages, as long as they do not mention us.
WhatsApp now allows you to mute groups and chats permanently. What hasn’t changed is the the archived chats. When we archive a chat and someone sends a message to it, WhatsApp unarchives the conversation and redisplays it on the main screen, even when it is muted. Some users have complained about this situation in tweet replies.
The option to mute a conversation forever is a minor addition. WhatsApp will also bring the support for web calls and video calls, the self destructing photos and videos and the multi-device features, which has been in development for quite some time. But right now WhatsApp lets you to mute groups and chats without a time limitation.
