NVIDIA is now preparing to expand its GeForce RTX 3000 (Ampere) graphics card line with GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB.
At the end of the month (October 29), RTX 3070 will be released on a stripped-down version of the GA104-300 GPU with 5888 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory, which in some games even outperforms the flagship RTX 2080 Ti of the Turing generation.
This will be followed by RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 with double the memory size of 20 and 16 GB respectively, and the mass model RTX 3060 Ti. Videocardz informants have indicated the exact release dates of the upcoming RTX 3000 series models.
The updated RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 with doubled storage capacity are reported to be released in December. At the same time, the RTX 3060 Ti release has been moved to mid-November. Another change in the plans of “green” – model RTX 3070 Ti with 6144 cores CUDA was canceled. The reason – difficulties with the production of graphics processor GA104-400 for her.
Of course, these are only preliminary data, and you should not trust them completely, as the situation may change.
GeForce RTX 3000 will compete with AMD Radeon RX 6000 (Navi 2X) solutions with 2nd generation RDNA architecture, which will be announced on October 28th. If the “Reds” succeed this time, the “Greens” will have to react quickly. However, it is not yet very clear how NVIDIA will accelerate, given the catastrophic situation with RTX 3080/RTX 3090, which will be in acute deficit at least until 2021.
