US video game publisher 2K Games today publishes three compilation titles that will allow Nintendo Switch users to enjoy the Bioshock trilogy, the first two installments of Borderlands and XCOM 2. These well-known franchises make the leap to the Nintendo console and include all the content of the original games and their expansions.
Bioshock, Borderlands and Xcom 2 collections arrive in stores in physical format (although they require an additional download of more than 30 GB) and are also available in digital format.
Bioshock: The Collection
The recent history of the interactive medium could not be understood without the Bioshock trilogy. This series of games started by Irrational Games and its director Ken Levine redefined the possibilities of first-person action games when telling a story through its elaborate settings, which transport the player to the iconic (and dystopian) cities. from Rapture and Columbia .
The compilation includes all three original games (Bioshock Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, and Bioshock Infinite: The Complete Edition), plus all of their downloadable content, which expands the history of the games and includes new weapons and gear.
Borderlands Legendary Collection
The Borderlands series is another essential game set to understand the trends that are triumphing today among first-person action games. This post-apocalyptic world created by developer Gearbox Software popularized the introduction of RPG elements in this genre and also the cooperative approach for multiplayer today so present.
The compilation coming to Nintendo Switch today includes the first two installments, but not Borderlands 3, which was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at the end of last year. To compensate for the fact that the entire trilogy is not included, the independent game Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set between the first two installments. As the 2K itself points out, “all of them have a cooperative mode for two players with split screen and compatibility with up to four players online .”
XCOM 2 Collection
The XCOM series is a benchmark among turn-based strategy games. The American developer Firaxis Games resurrected this classic from the 90s with an update with two games that have brought this genre back to the present day. The second installment, XCOM 2, was released in 2016 and added much more complexity to its story of invading aliens.
The XCOM 2 version coming to Nintendo Switch incorporates the original game, four downloadable content packs, and the War of the Chosen expansion, which includes new factions and heroes. In the case of Spain, the game is only available in digital format.
