Facebook has now made a special app, Tuned, for couples who are far away during the Covid-19 outbreak. The application was designed and developed by a small group within the company called the New Product Experience Team.
The application called Tuned aims to create a special social media channel that couples will only have for themselves.
For now, the application only works on iOS. The couples can share their moods and send music to each other. They can also create digital albums. The app integrates with Spotify for music sharing. In addition, couples can send notes, sounds and photos to each other. Also, they can use special stickers and emojis through Tuned.
Users do not need to have a Facebook account to use the application, and anyone can use the application for free. However, users must agree to use the application within the Facebook data rules. In other words, data collected from users of the application can be used for ad targeting.
Overall, the app doesn’t look very different from other social networks where people talk and share content with each other. However, what makes this application different is that the couples may include it in their daily lives as an exclusive app. It is aimed to create a special communication path between Tuned and couples.
Other applications previously developed by the team were not supported and promoted by Facebook. For this reason, we might expect Facebook will not provide a lot of support for the Tuned app.
