HP’s hybrid notebook, the Spectre x360 15, returns with form improvements at CES 2020. The revamped edition of the large hybrid uses high-end materials (magnesium alloy, metal, etc.) with its solid hinges allowing the 15.6-inch screen to rotate completely around the keyboard.
HP reduced the bezels around the screen and the new model is 13 percent smaller than the previous generation and screen ratio is increased to 90 percent with this change. HP offers 4K or Full HD panel choice, with the 4K the screen will be HDR400 compatible and through different software profiles, it will be possible to change the color range between sRGB, Adobe RGB or even DCI-P3.
An emphasis on security
Also note that, regardless of the type of the screen you choose, HP has optimized the anti-reflective layer over the panel, as well as its permeability to fingerprints. There is also a software privacy filter which offers you the possibility of reducing the viewing angles so that people around you cannot squint on your screen while you are processing sensitive data.
The webcam also got smaller (2.2mm compared to 6mm in prev. gen.) and it can still be deactivated manually using a small switch on the right side of the device. Having said that, you can also deactivate the built-in microphones with a keyboard shortcut. The Spectre x360 15 has a USB port, two Type-C ports, a microSD card reader and a headphone output.
Up to 17 hours on 4K screen
The laptop will last up to 17 hours at a single charge, even with the 4K model. One of the models has a 10th gen Intel Core U series processor and a NVIDIA GeForce MX graphics card. The other model has 45W H-series processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
The new HP Spectre x360 15 will be available this March from HP.com and Best Buy, and the price will start from $1,599.99.
