WhatsApp announced ending support for some phones, and it won’t work on them.
The popular messaging platform, owned by Facebook, has updated its support page, informing its users that the application will no longer be supported on smartphones that are running Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich), iOS 9 and older versions of these operating systems.
WhatsApp won’t work on these phones at February 1, 2020. After this date, users will no longer be able to register and use existing accounts with WhatsApp.
The support page also mentions: “Since we are no longer actively developing for these operating systems, some features may stop working at any time.”
It is also worth adding that today, December 31th, Windows Phone users have lost the ability to use WhatsApp. If you are still using Windows Phone, Microsoft officially recommends that you switch to Android or iOS.
