After the recent arrival of the new Intel NUC 11 with Tiger Lake at the end of the year, everybody was looking forward to CES 2021 and now Intel NUC 11 mini PCs with Tiger Lake-U are official.
We find three models with different configurations aimed at three groups of users.
- HP Envy 14 is presented at CES 2021: specs, price and release date
- Dell launched UltraSharp 40 Curved WUHD Monitor (U4021QW): specs price and release date
- Samsung announced Galaxy Chromebook 2: specs, price and release date
Intel NUC 11 Panther Canyon
With a 40-watt system TDP, this NUC is a much more energy-efficient option. It should still be good enough for some lightweight gaming, thanks to the use of Intel Iris Xe graphics.
The latest conventional NUC is available with three processor options: Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7, as well as two sizes of chassis. Thus, if we choose the bigger model that is 5.5 centimeters high (2.2 inches), we can equip a 2.5″ HDD or SSD in addition to SSD M.2; while the smaller model will barely reach 3.8 centimeters (1.5 inches), eliminating this bay for the inclusion of an HDD.
All available options of the Intel NUC 11 Phanter Canyon will have HDMI 2.0a ports, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an SDXC card reader, and an Ethernet port.
Intel NUC 11 Pro Tiger Canyon
Presented as a model identical to the Panther Canyon, as its name indicates, we find a “Pro” model with superior specs. This mini PC will be available under additional processor options that include the Core i5-1145G7 and Core i7-1185G7 with Intel vPro technology for hardware-based security and remote management, among other things.
This model also has two HDMI 2.0b ports instead of HDMI + DisplayPort, but you can still connect up to four displays since the Thunderbolt 4 ports can transmit DisplayPort signals with a resolution of up to 7680 × 4320 (8K) at 60Hz. In addition, in the higher models, Intel also offers optional add-ons that can bring features such as additional Ethernet and USB ports.
Intel NUC 11 Phantom Canyon
Presented as a continuation of the Intel NUC Skull Canyon and Hades Canyon, we find the first Intel NUC 11 in this form factor that equips an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. It will be accompanied by a Core i7-1165G7 processor, 2 SODIMM slots with support for up to 64GB DDR4-3200 RAM and two M.2 2280 slots for SSD PCIe x4 or Optane memory.
Unfortunately, Intel has not yet revealed the physical dimensions of the case, but as we can see from the size of its motherboard (approximately 20 x 14 cm), it is most likely that this new Mini-PC will be slightly larger than its predecessors.
The Phantom Canyon NUC has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, six USB 3.1 Type A ports, one HDMI 2.1a port and MiniDisplayPort 1.4, as well as a headphone jack and an SD card reader on the front of the computer. Finally, there is the addition of a 150-watt TDP, which although it will consume a little more power, still maintains good efficiency when it comes to gaming desktops.
We don’t have any details about the price and release date of Intel NUC 11 mini PCs with Tiger Lake-U, we are going to keep you informed.
