Netflix will soon have a big new feature for the app – but without 3D audio

Netflix is still working on making the content of the platform interesting: In addition to various changes to the user interface, the provider is also implementing more and more new features. The “Shuffle Play” function is now available to many users and uses algorithms to show customers suggestions based on their interests (see). Now the company is stepping up again and presenting a feature that is in a similar notch. IOS users will also soon benefit from this innovation, but will be left empty-handed in another matter for the time being.

Auto-download of new series and films

Android users have already received the update: You can use the “Downloads for you” function. Similar to Shuffle Play, this innovation is accompanied by an analysis of the cinematic preferences. The application then ensures that previously unknown titles are automatically downloaded to the device for the subscriber. To do this, the user must activate the function in the “Downloads” tab and determine the amount of data that the smartphone or tablet reserves for this content. “Downloads for you” should not be confused with what are known as “smart downloads”: the latter provide new content from well-known series and films. According to Netflix, tests of the new feature for the iOS app will follow soon.

    No 3D audio planned

In January, the French website iPhoneSoft reported the streaming provider’s plans to work on supporting 3D audio and possibly make the function available as early as spring. 3D audio is reserved for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max and ensures an impressive sound experience thanks to dynamic head recognition. Now a Netflix spokesman said MacRumorsthat no support for the feature is planned. The competition is already ahead: Other video-on-demand platforms like Disney +, HBO Max and of course Apple TV + are compatible with the technology.
