We have to admit that the top 10 worst movies of 2022 list we are going to share today is pretty accurate for most film critics. As another year of cinematic releases comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the highs and lows of the film industry. While there were certainly some standout successes and beloved productions, there were also a number of movies that left audiences feeling disappointed, frustrated, and underwhelmed.

These are the films that failed to meet expectations, squandered their potential, or simply fell flat. Here, we present a list of what we believe to be the top 10 worst movies of 2022, chosen for their lack of entertainment value, poor execution, or overall negative impact on the industry. From big-budget blockbusters to independent productions, these are the films that left us wanting more (or, in some cases, anything else).

Our selection of the top 10 worst movies of 2022

As cinephile editors, we are often ruthless in our criticism of movies that fall short of their potential. We have high standards for the films we watch, and we are not afraid to call out those that fail to meet our expectations. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of what we consider to be the worst films of 2022. These are the movies that, in our opinion, failed to deliver on their promises, disappointed audiences, or simply fell short in terms of quality:

  • Minions: The Rise of Gru
  • Amsterdam
  • Black Adam

Minions: The Rise of Gru

“Despicable Me 5” is a lifeless and uninspired sequel that feels like it was created solely for the purpose of making money. The Minions, once a beloved and entertaining part of the franchise, have worn out their welcome and contribute nothing of value to the story. The plot, which follows a young Gru as he dreams of becoming a supervillain, lacks any sense of excitement or progression as it is clear from the start that Gru will inevitably become a hero. As a result, the movie feels like a hollow and unengaging experience that fails to deliver the same level of enjoyment as its predecessors.

Amsterdam

“Amsterdam” is a chaotic and confusing movie that is unable to decide what it wants to be about. The film’s central love triangle between Christian Bale, John David Washington, and Margot Robbie is uninteresting, and the attempted fascist takeover plot that eventually takes center stage is equally disjointed and difficult to follow. Set in a stylized version of 1930s America, the movie is visually striking but ultimately fails to deliver a cohesive or satisfying story. Overall, “Amsterdam” is a frustrating and disappointing experience that falls short of its potential.

Black Adam

We didn’t have high hopes for “Black Adam” going into the film, but even with low expectations, the movie still managed to disappoint. It takes all the negative elements of bad superhero movies and combines them into one loud and chaotic mess. While there are some exciting action scenes, they are overshadowed by the movie’s flaws, including an overabundance of characters, a lack of backstory, heavy-handed messaging, poor acting, forced humor, sloppy editing, awkward dubbing, and an overreliance on CGI. The result is a film that leaves viewers confused and annoyed for the majority of its runtime.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the film industry saw its share of successes and failures this year. While there were certainly some standout productions that wowed audiences and critics alike, there were also a number of movies that fell flat and left audiences feeling disappointed. These movies received the lowest ratings and the most negative reviews, and they represent a wide range of genres and budgets.

Whether it was a big-budget blockbuster or an independent production, these are the movies that failed to live up to their potential, disappointed their audiences, or simply fell short in terms of quality and entertainment value. While it’s always disappointing to see a film fail, it’s important to recognize and learn from these mistakes in order to move forward and create better movies in the future.

By the way, this top 10 worst movies of 2022 list is based purely on objective ideas, and we have no personal stake in the success or failure of these movies. Have you heard that Avatar 2 box office has managed to scores $435 million in its first week? What a success!
