Although Kiriko, the new hero coming to Overwatch 2, has yet to be properly introduced, early teases and leaks have already shed light on her. While it’s still early days, here’s a complete summary of everything we know so far about the incoming character.

Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4th, and it will include three new characters. After 930 days since the release of Echo in the original game, Blizzard is hoping to make a major comeback with three separate characters all at once.

While it may look to be identical to the previous game on the surface, the gameplay is vastly different – the game is now 5v5, mobility has been altered, and new characters have been included. Along with these upgrades, a new game mode, Overwatch 2 PvE, is expected to enter the lineup.

Given her unveiling in 2019, we’ve known Sojourn for quite some time. We first spotted Junker Queen in action earlier this year. With the former being a Damage-based hero and the latter being a Tank, a Support hero is needed to fill out the crew and keep the fans of all three different roles satisfied.

New hero of Overwatch 2 leaked: Kiriko will be the 8th support of the game

While nothing has been confirmed, it looks like Kiriko is on her way to filling that hole. From early teasers to the most recent leaks, here’s everything we know about the upcoming Overwatch 2 hero.

When will the new hero be released?

Kiriko, the first hero obtained through this technique, has been confirmed to be featured in the Season 1 Battle Pass. Given that Season 1 will be available as soon as Overwatch 2 is released, we may expect the Support hero to be available on Tuesday, October 4.

We know for definite that three new characters will be released with Overwatch 2. With Sojourn and Junker Queen already confirmed, we can now add this hero to the mix at launch.

Abilities of Kiriko

While not yet officially unveiled, we do know that the third and final character will be a Support hero. Given that Sojourn is a Damage support and Junker Queen is a Tank, it stands to reason that she would be a Support.

However, it is unclear how this character will work in the Support position. Based on the first in-game preview, many speculated that a fox-based ability, similar to Lucio, may offer a speed boost to close allies. So there’s a potential we’ll see another Support with goals other than healing.

How to unlock Kiriko in Overwatch 2?

Starting with this hero, things will be a little different when it comes to playing her in Overwatch 2. Rather than obtaining access on day one, users must first unlock the Support with the Season 1 Battle Pass.

It is still unknown what Tier the character may be trapped behind, thus it is impossible to predict how much work will be necessary. Overwatch Commercial Lead Jon Spector has subsequently stated that she would be attached to a free Tier.

According to a leaked (and since-deleted) Watchpoint Pack description, there will also be a paid option to avoid the procedure. Players who purchase the Season One Premium Battle Pass will “automatically receive access to Overwatch’s latest hero Kiriko.”
