Microsoft went on and acquired Activision Blizzard and so the famous FPS franchise Call of Duty coming to Game Pass for all subscribers to enjoy.

Do you remember when Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard? Sure, you do, after all, it’s the largest transaction in video game history… Even though the shareholders have already authorized it, the transaction has not yet been completed. In a recent blog post on the official Microsoft page, CEO Phil Spencer discussed the future of Activision Blizzard and his ambitions if the transaction goes through. So, what did he say precisely, and what does the buyout imply for Call of Duty?

Yes, Phil Spencer has confirmed that Activision Blizzard titles will be included in Game Pass. His precise words were:

“We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities.”

This sounds fantastic for both Xbox and PC gamers out there. Game Pass is currently the finest gaming subscription service available, and with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it will only grow better. But wait, what about all those poor PlayStation kids?

After all, Call of Duty has historically been quite successful on PlayStation, and it still offers certain unique promotions for Early Access and in-game goodies. But don’t worry, Phil Spencer is a truly kind person. Here’s what he had to say about folks being afraid that CoD will be exclusive to the Xbox:

“We’ve heard that this deal might take franchises like Call of Duty away from the places where people currently play them. That’s why, as we’ve said before, we are committed to making the same version of Call of Duty available on PlayStation on the same day the game launches elsewhere. We will continue to enable people to play with each other across platforms and across devices.”

This should come as no surprise to us. Why would Microsoft forego cash generated by PlayStation players? Game Pass is already very popular and will only get stronger with Activision Blizzard’s acquisition; they certainly have no need to keep those titles exclusive and so miss out on the massive PS market.
