Apple has unveiled macOS 13 Ventura, which is the name for its next operating system for Mac computers. Did you check macOS Ventura compatibility? With the switch from Intel to proprietary silicon already finished and the M2 chip just revealed, this new Mac OS will be restricted to newer devices. Here are the Macs that will run macOS 13.

macOS 13 Ventura compatibility

Unlike macOS Monterey, which supported a wide range of Macs, Apple is closing the gap between its Intel Macs and those machines. The popular “trashcan” Mac Pro, for example, will not run with macOS 13 Ventura. Here’s a list of all Macs that are compatible:

  • 2017 iMac and later;
  • 2017 iMac Pro and later;
  • 2018 MacBook Air and later;
  • 2017 MacBook Pro and later;
  • 2019 Mac Pro and later;
  • 2018 Mac mini and later;
  • 2017 MacBook and later;
  • 2022 Mac Studio

It’s critical to remember that Apple dropped support for all older computers just two years after moving from PowerPC to Intel. While Apple has gradually been migrating away from Intel and toward its own chip since macOS 11 Big Sur, customers will have at least another year to take advantage of new capabilities and software updates, in case Apple ever decides to eliminate all Intel Macs altogether in 2023.

macOS 13 Ventura new features

The Stage Manager function in macOS 10.13 will enable users to work across applications and windows in a new way, automatically arranging open programs and windows so that they may focus on their job while still seeing everything at a glance.

Handoff is also available in iOS 11, allowing users to start a FaceTime call on one Apple device and pass it off to another Apple device nearby.

Messages on the Mac now lets you edit or delete a recently sent message, mark a message as unread, and even recover mistakenly deleted messages.
