At the beginning of this year we were able to see the first presentation of Oppo Watch, the first smartwatch of the Chinese company, which unfortunately was limited to its only availability within China. However, and with only four months apart, the company is now preparing for the launch of a new model, this time under a new operating system and worldwide availability.

At the moment, we know very little about the new Oppo smartwatch, although based on a promotional GIF provided by the company, in which in addition to a design practically identical to its predecessor, it surprises us with a closing curtain in which it reads the message “Wear OS by Google”.

  • Comparison: OnePlus Nord vs OnePlus 8
  • How to install WhatsApp on Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2?
  • How many iPhone components are made by Samsung?

Although we cannot assure you, this teaser makes us assume that the new device with Wear OS will be very similar to the previous version, so you would expect the presence of an AMOLED screen, eSIM for LTE and phone calls, sensors for monitoring heart rate, sleep and other measurements, and a water resistance of up to 5ATM.

Thus, we would again find two variants of 41 and 46mm dial, combining all the basic elements of smartwatches within a square body. However, when we look at its design we cannot avoid comparing it with the Apple Watch. And is that in fact the original Oppo Watch even has the ECG function of Apple watches.

However, it is this specific function that makes us think that the inclusion of Wear OS may not be the only change compared to its predecessor. And it is that this particular feature could be especially difficult to bring to all markets, since the sensors must be certified for each country before they can be enabled on any smartwatch.

The first Oppo Watch starts at 1,499 yuan (around 200 USD) in China for the smaller 41mm version, while the larger 46mm option starts at 1,999 yuan (around 280 USD). Given its great similarity with this device, the new Oppo Watch with Wear OS is expected to land at quite similar prices, however, with the already classic increase derived from freight, which could leave final prices close to 240 USD of base.

However, the full prices and specifications for the new smartwatch have not yet been specified, so it will be necessary to wait for its official presentation at the end of this month, already dated July 31.
