CES 2022: Chrysler shows Airflow SUV electric car concept

The electric car debuted at CES 2022 is only a concept, but it appears to be near to becoming a commercial reality.

“Chrysler is going to focus on on-road performance, connected experiences and delivering both extended high battery electric range and fast charging capabilities,” Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell said.

Two 150kW motors, one in each axle, power the all-wheel drive of the Airflow concept. The firm didn’t disclose the battery’s size or capacity, but it did say that the vehicle will have a range of 350-400 miles per charge. The Airflow will come with the company’s “STLA AutoDrive” advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), which allows for Level 3 autonomous driving and over-the-air software updates.

The Airflow’s design indicates what future Chrysler cars might look like, according to Feuell.

The Airflow’s design may not be exactly the same as the concept, but its characteristics offer hints as to what the next crossover SUV may have. For example, the concept car features a camera for each seat, allowing all passengers to take part in video chats. Furthermore, by swiping items on any of the touchscreens, they may be sent to others.

Implying the Pacifica and the 300, Feuell said:

“If you take a look at the products that we have in market, now, you could make the case that they don’t even really look related to each other, if you were to remove the badges. We’re definitely going to have a more harmonious design theme across all of our new products.”
