Intel Alder Lake: When will it be released?

Intel's Alder Lake chip architecture is the most fascinating processing platform in a decade. It will arrive at a time when AMD has made it clear that the Ryzen CPU family is gunning for Intel's preeminent position, and not least, Apple has just demonstrated its power to extract the full potential of ARM architecture with the new M1 Pro and Max SoCs for its MacBook Pro upgrades.

Intel Alder Lake will debut on October 27, with processors and motherboards available beginning November 4, according to leaked documentation from wccftech. On that day, several memory suppliers will provide DDD5 new memory.

The debut of Alder Lake will signify a shift in Intel’s fundamental processing unit design and production at all levels. The Lakefield family of hybrid CPUs had previously been manufactured by Intel, but this will be the first to come as a worldwide, optimized computing solution. Because of the whole philosophy of the big.LITTLE design concept utilized by ARM is well established, the concept of combining high-performance and low-power chips is quite familiar.

Intel has taken the best ideas, advanced them, and optimized them for mobile platforms using x86 architecture and higher-performance processors than ARM in mobile devices, providing solutions for all computational ranges from laptops to servers while also improving integrated graphics performance thanks to the work done for its next generation of solutions known as Intel Arc. As well as adding the most recent technologies and standards for PCs such as DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 interface, Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity, or USB4.,

Intel Alder Lake launch

Many people are excited to know when they’ll be able to pre-order, and in this leaked screenshot you can see that the dates have been set. From what we can tell, the platform will initially debut with its most powerful desktop models. The multiplier unlocked the ‘K’ and ‘KF’ series, which will be followed by more mainstream variants in the following weeks in early 2022 at the Las Vegas show, CES 2022.

The launch of the new motherboards will be followed by four additional CPU models, which will come with their own unique features. As you know, this platform will not be backward compatible with previous versions and the customer who purchases these CPUs will need to purchase a new motherboard with an LGA 1700 socket and 600 series chipset designed specifically for them. Intel has promised to maintain socket+chipset for three generations of processors in order to get a return on investment.

Although the boards will support the current DDR4 memory, they will debut the new DDR5 generation and a previous Intel listing tells us that there will be quite a supply of memory for the launch and in particular:

  • Kingston Fury Series Memory Kits
  • G.Skill Trident Z5 Memory Kits
  • Corsair Dominator Memory Kits
  • GeIL Polaris RGB Memory Kits
  • TeamGroup Elite Series Memory Kits
  • GALAX GAMER RGB Series DDR5 Memory Kits
  • PNY Performance Memory Kits
  • ADATA XPG CASTER Memory Kits
  • V-Color RGB Memory Kits
  • ZADAK SPARK Memory Kits
  • ASGARD Memory Kits

The first processors to hit the market will be Core i9-12900K, which is at the top of the platform range. Under the hybrid architecture we’ve been discussing, the new CPU is expected to have 8 high-performance cores, 8 low-power cores, and 24 threads in total. There are no official pricing details available yet; however, previous retailer listings indicate that they will be exorbitant.

To summarize, the Alder Lake launch date is set for October 27 at an Intel event, with processors, motherboards, and memory becoming available starting November 4. We’re working on a comprehensive review of this new generation’s features. We’ll let you know when it’s ready.
