A leak reveals the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, and one of the most prominent is that it will offer support for Alexa. The leak also points out that the global version will come once again without NFC. Mi Band 5 t is expected to debut in China in early July and hit the Western market a few months later.

The Xiaomi smart wristbands are the most popular ones on the market, so each new model generates a lot of expectation and buzz. We already know that the Mi Band 5 is on the way, and now a leak has revealed some of its features.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will support Alexa instead of Xiao AI assistant

According to a report released today, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will have support for Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant.

Until now, Xiaomi only integrated the voice assistant in the Chinese version of the Mi Band, which came with a built-in microphone to use the Xiao AI assistant. But this time, the feature will also reach the international version with one difference, the voice assistant being Alexa.

Although the Mi Band 5 will allow voice commands to the Amazon assistant, since it does not have a speaker, the responses from Alexa will be shown on the screen.

The Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) function is another novelty that we will find in the new generation of the Xiaomi smartband. This is a metric that converts heart rate data into a unique, personal score that shows the user the activity they need to stay healthy and fit.

On the other hand, the report details that the Mi Band 5 will have a SpO2 sensor to measure the level of oxygen saturation in blood and will also allow monitoring of the menstrual cycle.

Huami, the Xiaomi ecosystem company that makes this device, has already confirmed that the launch of the Mi Band 5 will take place in the second half of this year. The report says, the original plan was to announce the device in the first week of June, the brand delayed its plans to the last week of June or the first week of July as it has yet to pass Bluetooth SIG certification.

After its launch in China, as it has been happening with previous models, a few months later Xiaomi will put the Mi Band 5 on sale in other markets.
