If you don’t know how to protect your Telegram chats with a password, we are going to help you out in this guide. Even if you have your phone properly protected with a password, you might want to protect your conversations in Telegram with an extra security measure.

If you want to make sure that your Telegram conversations remain invisible to those who have access to your phone, the best solution is to protect your chats with a PIN or password.

How to protect your Telegram chats with a password?

Telegram is a cloud-based application and it comes with a lot of different features. If you want to protect your Telegram chats, even from those who have access to your phone, the app allows you to lock your chats with a password or PIN code.

Just enter the Telegram settings, go to the Privacy and security section. There, tap on Lock Code and then activate the switch under Lock Code, which will display all the available options.

The first thing you’ll need to do next is to enter the PIN code or password you want to use to protect your chats on Telegram. Initially, you are asked for a four-digit PIN code, although you can change to a password if you prefer by tapping on the top bar. Whichever you choose, you will have to enter it twice.

You’ve successfully activated the password, although you can make some additional interesting settings. For example, if you choose Show content in multitasking, this tool will prevent you from being able to take screenshots when using Telegram in multitasking mode. Or you can opt for the Autoblock option, where you can choose a period of time after which Telegram will be automatically blocked.

If you disable the autoblock, you will still be able to block the app manually whenever you want. To do this you must go to the Telegram chats view and click on the lock icon, which appears only when the option is enabled.
