Apple has been developing Apple VR/AR headsets for a long time, and now we know that they will rely on external mobile devices. Apple is not the first company to work with AR– Microsoft’s HoloLens and Google Glass are both examples of this technology. Apple may be trying to develop its own device for professional use before releasing one geared towards everyday consumers who want an accessible experience.

According to The Information, Apple VR/AR headsets will likely not have enough processing power to operate autonomously. Apple’s mobile devices are known for their strong processing capabilities, so Apple may be using these strengths to create Apple AR glasses that depend on an iPhone or other Apple-branded device. There has been much speculation about how Apple would integrate its products into augmented reality experiences, but Apple’s Apple VR/AR headsets could be the company’s first step into AR.

As Apple continues to develop its own augmented reality products, Apple is no longer alone in this industry as companies like Google and Microsoft have also been working on their own versions of Apple glasses.

The integrated processor won’t be enough

The most important component of the Augmented Reality headset would be linked to a mobile device, such as an iPhone or iPad.

The benefit is that there would be no annoying wires since the helmets and mobile devices would communicate wirelessly, so in theory, there wouldn’t be any wires attached.

Because the integrated processor would not be powerful enough to handle all of the data processing, as well as for a neural engine for Artificial Intelligence capabilities, a dependence on an external device is expected.

The good news is that the battery would last longer if this were implemented, taking into account that the helmet in development, according to rumors, will have ultra-high resolution displays, perhaps an 8K screen per eye.

According to reports, Apple has already completed the core design, and the next step would be to release a test edition for mass production at some point in the future.

It is anticipated that the initial version would be geared towards professionals, rather than creators and developers, with a possible price of around $3,000. In the best-case scenario,

It will be a matter of waiting, and before we know it, we may already have all the information on this device, which is gradually moving towards its ultimate release.
