Facebook announced new tools for groups. The idea is that administrators can integrate experts into groups for the benefit of their members.
In this way, groups will be able to rely on reliable sources and thus eradicate misinformation among members. And of course, it should enrich the dynamics of the groups and the content shared among users.
New features for Facebook groups
If there are experts in the groups you manage, you will be able to invite them to play a more active role. Facebook now allows you to choose members of groups and highlight them as experts. This does not mean that they will have moderation functions or that they will be able to manage the group.
But this new dynamic allows members to identify those users who are knowledgeable about certain topics within their groups. Their comments and posts will always include the “group expert” badge, just as administrators and moderators are highlighted.
Of course, users can refuse to be part of “experts”, and administrators can revoke this designation at any time if they feel this role is not being put to good use.
On the other hand, Facebook wants to boost this new dynamic with a new feature that will allow administrators to find experts on certain topics outside of their groups. At the moment, it is being tested with topics related to fitness and video games. So users who are knowledgeable about these specific topics can apply as experts.
And of course, experts will have several options to actively participate in the groups. For example, they will be able to organize Q&A sessions or live audio rooms. An example of all these functions can be seen in the Dogspotting Society group. Mark Zuckerberg participated in this group with a Q&A session.
