Since Apple introduced the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (two ports) with M1 processors in October last year, we have been waiting for the rest of the MacBook range to leap. In this regard, there is quite a dance of dates, although most point to this fall as the date to see the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Back in May, Mark Gurman suggested that the new MacBook Pros could launch as soon as this summer, which we are already in, by the way. Now, in his new Power On newsletter, Gurman states that “for Apple, all the attention is on fall,” implying that this is the most likely date for us to see the new computers.
“For Apple, all attention is on the fall, so the next few weeks are destined to be light on product news. The next iPhone and Apple Watch models are about three months away, along with the releases of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8, so stay tuned for news after the summer hiatus. And don’t forget iPad and Mac – Apple has a new entry-level iPad for students and refreshed MacBook Pros and iPad minis coming later this year as well.”
According to the analyst, these next few weeks should bring us few new product releases, something that, following the release schedules of previous years, fits Apple’s patterns. In any case, it is still too early to rule out a launch before September, subject to the availability of components to manufacture these new computers.
With new connectors, including HDMI port, MagSafe and card reader, M1 or M1X or M2 processor and a redesign with fewer bezels and straighter corners, the new 14-inch, and 16-inch MacBook Pro are the go-to computer for those of us looking for power and portability. With these computers leaping Apple silicon, the transition to Apple’s processor architecture will be one big step closer to completion.
