The 2021 report shows some significant steps forward toward achieving this goal. According to the report, the company has reduced the environmental impact of its products over the course of the last year and projects the company’s progress towards zero emissions in 2030 as of this year, setting out its environmental impact roadmap.

Achieving this goal requires them to design products that use more recycled materials. To achieve this goal all products have to be more efficient.

One of the most controversial decisions that Apple has taken in the last year to get closer to carbon neutrality, has been to remove the headphones that had always accompanied the iPhone in its box as well as the wall adapter.

With this measure, the tech giant claims that it will avoid the extraction of 861,000 metric tons of copper, tin, and zinc from the earth. By not including these items, Apple also reduced the size of the iPhone box. This way they plan to reduce the carbon footprint when transporting the devices. The company has signed agreements with more than 110 manufacturing partners that commit to the green transition and use 100% renewable energy by 2030.
