LinkedIn launches new features for job seekers.

The company have just introduced Presentation Stories and profile features for job seekers. On the one hand, they have created features to make profiles on the platform more expressive and inclusive, users will be able to create video covers in stories, but they will also be able to participate in free LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Learn courses, as well as a Skills Path pilot program (English only), which the company describes as a skills program for job seekers.

Videos will be the next big thing in the CVs

According to LinkedIn, 61% of job seekers believe that recorded video could be the next version of the traditional cover letter, while nearly 80% of hiring managers say video has become more important for vetting candidates, which is why having video covers in stories becomes critical to explaining who we are in a short amount of time.

Complementing the new feature in stories is a new field for pronouns in profiles that are meant to allow members to communicate how they want to be seen. Seventy percent of job seekers believe it’s important for recruiters to know their gender pronouns.

Beyond Presentation Stories and the gender pronouns field, LinkedIn is introducing creator mode and service pages for candidates and organizations. Creator mode allows members to highlight their recent work relevant to the job, while the service page allows freelancers and small business owners to create dedicated pages listing the services they offer.

Starting in May, LinkedIn says it will power a new Microsoft Teams app called Career Coach for institutions to support students before and after graduation. The app will help students discover goals, interests, and skills through an artificial intelligence-based identifier that aligns their profiles with job market trends.

All new LinkedIn features for job seekers

  • Presentation Story: A new LinkedIn profile feature that can help members share their story in video format more authentically and engagingly. If you’re looking for a job, this feature is a great way to share more details about your career goals and showcase your soft skills to recruiters. Freelancers looking for work will also be able to attract new clients by sharing information about their services and activity.
  • Content Creator Mode: Professionals who regularly share innovative ideas, post content of their own, and are working to increase their LinkedIn following can activate the new Content Creator Mode on their profile. This new feature helps individuals increase their number of followers by adding the “Follow” button to their profile, share more about their expertise through hashtags at the top of their profile, and better showcase their content by moving up their “Featured” and “Activity” sections so that content is more accessible.
  • Grow your business by showcasing your services: Freelancers and small business owners can now create Service Pages where they can list the services they offer from the Open for the Business feature of their profile. This tool offers greater reach to LinkedIn’s community of more than 700 million members. Users can edit and manage their Services Page directly from their LinkedIn profile. In the coming months, they will be adding more ways to manage services and interactions with buyers from Service Pages. Soon we will also be able to view ratings and comments directly from our Service Pages.
