We’ve been waiting for the news about Marvel’s Avengers and a YouTube channel recently made a performance and graphic comparison between Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Xbox One players can upgrade their game to Xbox Series X/S, and PS4 players can do the same with PS5. Of course, the community has not been slow to create graphical comparisons between one version and the other.

Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox Series X/S and PS5

A YouTube channel shared a performance comparison between the new generation versions. According to their findings, all of them have a mode that prioritizes FPS and another one that prioritizes resolution: PS5 and Xbox X/S target 4K variable and 60 FPS, versus 4K and 30 FPS respectively, while in S Series the issue decreases to 1440p and 30 FPS in quality versus 1080p and 60 FPS in fluidity. Do they manage to hit the target?

Generally, the graphics mode does, yes; although the most intense moments of combat can take up to 10% of the resolution. Xbox Series X is somewhat more stable in this regard. Aside from pixel count, graphics mode also slightly improves some aspects such as particles, shadows, reflections, and draw distance, the source explains, while remaining almost constant at its target frame rate.

If you choose to prioritize FPS, the game’s resolution scaling becomes somewhat more aggressive: on PS5, the game drops down to 1920x2160p dynamic in open spaces a type of horizontal clipping we already saw in the previous generation according to Digital Foundry metrics; while on Xbox Series X the game has a slightly better draw distance in the same mode and also the resolution is higher (3840x1836p) at the cost of a very slightly less consistent FPS rate than its rival.

What about the performance between PS4 Pro and PS5?

In this second video, we can see how FPS prioritization mode takes PS4 Pro‘s pixel count up to 1920x1080p (versus PS5’s dynamic 4K, as we said above) while in quality prioritization mode, the issue oscillates between 1332p and 2160p for the vertical count. Loading times are another story: five seconds on PS5, for more than a minute and a half on PS4 Pro.
