Qualcomm launched three new Snapdragon processors (720G, 662 and 460) for smartphones at an event in New Delhi. The location was selected to underline the support for Navic (Indian alternative to GPS) in new SoCs. Here are the specs, features, release date and price details for the three new processors.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 770G specs, release date, price, features, details

Snapdragon 720G specs

The Snapdragon 720G is produced by Samsung using the 8LPP process. The SoC has two Cortex-A76 processor cores (2.4GHz) and four Cortex-A55 cores (1.8GHz) and Adreno 618 as the graphics unit. According to Qualcomm, CPU performance increases by 60 percent compared to the Snapdragon 710, and GPU performance by 75 percent. The Snapdragon 720G supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6, and via Spectra 350L up to 192 megapixels and HEIF as the format.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 specs, release date, price, features, details

Snapdragon 662 specs

With the Snapdragon 662, Qualcomm speaks above all of improved artificial intelligence and an upgraded image processor for photos and videos. On the CPU side, there are two Cortex-A73 processors (2 GHz) and four Cortex-A53 processors (1.8GHz) and an Adreno 610 as the graphics unit. The Spectra 340T supports 48 megapixels, and for the first time in the Snapdragon 600 series, it can use three camera sensors, and HEIF is also supported. The X11 modem achieves 390 Mbps for the downlink, plus Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 is supported.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 specs, release date, price, features, details

Snapdragon 460 specs

Qualcomm put performance cores in the Snapdragon 460 for the first time: Instead of eight Cortex-A53 processor cores, there will be four big cores (Kryo 240), which should provide 70 percent higher performance. Previous Kryo 2×0 had modified Cortex-A73 cores. The graphics unit – an Adreno 610 just like the Snapdragon 662 – should also be significantly faster with 60 percent improvement. Bluetooth 5.1 is missing, but Wi-Fi 6 is there. For the first time in the Snapdragon 400 series, the Hexagon 683 will support DSP with Tensorflow-Lite acceleration.

Release date for the new Snapdragon SoCs

The Snapdragon 720G will be released in the first quarter of 2020, the Snapdragon 662 and the Snapdragon 460 will be available the end of this year.
