Intel SSD 670p is the new solid-state drive with which the chip giant expands its storage offering, in this case, aimed at the mainstream segment.

Intel’s bet on SSD with the Micron alliance that lasted until 2018 comes from afar and ranges from PCs to data centers. In parallel to those specialized in Optane cache, the company offers independent drives for both SATA, SAS, and PCI-Express interface.

Intel SSD 670p is one of the latter. With an M.2 2280 form factor, they employ Intel’s latest generation of 144-layer 3D QLC NAND NAND flash memory, along with an 8-channel Silicon Motion SM2265G controller also of new vintage and incorporate a 256MB fixed DDR3L DRAM cache in all capacity variants.

Connected to a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, these drives achieve a maximum data transfer rate of 3,500MB per second in sequential reads and 2,700MB per second in writes. Their estimated endurance is very high and reaches 740TBW (Tbytes wrote) on the highest capacity drive. It comes with great support and a five-year warranty on all versions.

Intel SSD 670p, versions, and prices

Intel markets these solid-state drives in three versions depending on storage capacity and with the following prices:

  • 512GB for $89.
  • 1TB for $154.
  • 2TB for $329.

Good prices for high-performance solid-state drives with the latest generation of QLC memory, innovative Silicon Motion controller, large cache capacity, and a five-year warranty. It can be mounted either on desktop or notebook PCs as a bootable drive or as an additional drive to increase storage.
