Spotify has introduced a feature allowing users to follow specific venues for updates on upcoming concerts. Followed venues are stored in a user’s library, providing access to event calendars, concert details, and new announcements. The platform also enables users to filter upcoming shows at these venues by genre.
In a related update, Spotify’s live event feed is now refreshed daily, a change from its previous weekly schedule, to deliver more current information. Users can continue to purchase tickets for shows by tapping on an event, which redirects them to the listed ticketing partner. The company currently collaborates with platforms such as Live Nation and Ticketmaster for ticket sales directly from an artist’s page. This follows a 2022 experiment where Spotify tested selling tickets on its own platform, a venture it has not since expanded.
This new functionality builds on other recent efforts by Spotify to enhance live event discovery. Earlier this year, the company launched “Concerts Near You,” a weekly updated playlist with 30 songs from artists performing in a user’s area, which includes details about their next show. Competitors are also focusing on live event features; in February, SoundCloud partnered with Ticketmaster and Live Nation to allow artists to list upcoming shows on their profiles.
