Ubisoft has announced The Division 2: Survivors, described as “an updated take on the survival extraction experience,” as part of the kickoff for The Division’s 10th anniversary year. The announcement was made at Gamescom, revealing the game is currently in early stages of development.

Magnus Jansén, a veteran of the original Division, is serving as creative director for The Division 2: Survivors. Ubisoft is emphasizing transparency and community involvement throughout the development process. Executive producer Julian Gerighty stated, “The Division 2: Survivors is as much your baby as it is ours, and we strive for transparency during its development. Clear communication and community involvement are a focus as we build the new experience, and we will be closely involving you as we move forward on the development journey.”

While no in-game artwork or screenshots were revealed, Ubisoft shared several pieces of concept art. The release date for The Division 2: Survivors is currently listed as TBA.

Ubisoft is also refreshing its Elite Task Program, inviting “committed players” to “engage directly with the development team and assist in guiding the future of the Division.” This initiative aims to gather player feedback and incorporate it into the game’s development.

In related news, The Division Resurgence, a free-to-play mobile RPG shooter, is seeking participants for closed tests on both iOS and Android platforms. According to Ubisoft, The Division Resurgence offers “the same gameplay experience as the Division games adapted to mobile gaming.” The game features “a familiar map updated to reflect the passage of time” and is designed to “bridge the narrative gap between the Division 1 and 2, adding to the existing lore with additional story beats over time.”

Both initiatives, The Division 2: Survivors and The Division Resurgence, highlight Ubisoft’s commitment to expanding The Division universe and actively involving the community in its ongoing development.

Players interested in participating in the Elite Task Program or the closed tests for The Division Resurgence are encouraged to sign up for consideration.
