Google has introduced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at its Made by Google 2025 event, marking the company’s latest entry into the foldable smartphone market. Priced at $1,799, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold boasts a new gearless hinge, enhanced camera capabilities, and the integration of the Tensor G5 chip, all aimed at delivering superior AI experiences.

The device will be available in Moonstone and Jade color options and comes equipped with 16GB of RAM, with storage options scaling up to 1TB.

A notable feature of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is its redesigned gearless hinge, which facilitates a larger outer display with minimized bezels. Google states that this hinge is twice as durable as that of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and is engineered to withstand over 10 years of folding.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold features an 8-inch inner display, the largest in its class, complemented by a 6.4-inch outer display. The inner Super Actual Flex display incorporates resilient ultra-thin glass and dual layers of anti-impact films to enhance durability against drops.

For the first time in the Pixel Fold series, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance. Its battery is designed to last up to 30 hours and can reach a 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes. Both the inner and outer displays offer an 11% increase in brightness, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first foldable smartphone to feature Qi2 charging. It also incorporates Google’s Pixelsnap magnetic technology, enabling users to attach the “Pixelsnap Charger with Stand” or the “Pixelsnap Ring Stand” for convenient charging and hands-free usage.

The Split Screen feature allows users to resize apps and allocate screen space as needed. This functionality supports tasks such as dragging content between apps, like photos from Google Photos to Messages, or comparing details between different applications. A new game controller functionality on the outer display enhances gaming experiences in titles like “Asphalt Legends” and “Disney Speedstorm.” The device also offers optimized streaming on Netflix and Disney+.

The camera system includes a new Instant View feature for reviewing photos on the unfolded inner screen immediately after capture. The Dual Screen Preview allows subjects to see themselves while posing. The phone is equipped with a 48 MP wide camera, a 5x telephoto lens with Super Res Zoom up to 20x, and an ultrawide lens with Macro Focus.

The Tensor G5 chip, according to Google, represents the most significant upgrade to its silicon since its introduction five years ago. It is designed for advancements in machine learning and AI, delivering double-digit performance increases. The TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) is 60% more powerful, and the CPU is 34% faster on average, improving web browsing and app launch speeds.

The Tensor G5 is the first chip to run Google’s Gemini Nano model, enabling over 20 generative AI experiences at launch, including Gemini Live, Magic Cue, and Daily Hub, along with photography features like Add Me, Best Take, and Camera Coach.

Preorders for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold are open now, and the device will be available in stores starting October 9.
