Samsung is rolling out multi-voice recognition powered by its Bixby assistant to its latest smart fridges. This new feature allows the fridge to display personalized information on its built-in smart screen based on the individual speaking.
The integration enables the fridge to pull up personal calendars or photo galleries using only voice commands. Users can also instruct the fridge to trigger an alarm on their phone, a handy tool for locating a misplaced device. Additionally, the update includes a feature that automatically adjusts the fridge screen’s display mode, such as color inversion or grayscale, to match the accessibility settings on the user’s phone, which could be particularly beneficial for those with vision impairments.
While display mode adjustments occur automatically, it appears users may still need to verbally request Bixby to switch accounts.
In addition to voice commands and tapping the Bixby icon, Samsung is introducing a new method for activating Bixby on its fridges: a double-tap gesture on the display when the screen is off.
The Voice ID feature and the new double-tap activation are being released via an update now, beginning with the 2025 Bespoke AI fridges equipped with Family Hub. Samsung plans to extend these features to appliances featuring the smaller AI Home displays at a later date.
