Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung’s incremental upgrades may not justify the hype

Rumors are circulating that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may not deliver the revolutionary upgrades that fans are hoping for. According to early reports, the new flagship might only offer subtle improvements over the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

While expectations were high for groundbreaking changes, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature minor tweaks in design, display, and charging capabilities.

Leaked specifications from tipster PandaFlash X reveal that the S26 Ultra will likely sport slimmer bezels, increasing the screen-to-body ratio. However, the under-display camera (UDC) technology will remain exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup. The S26 Ultra will retain the existing punch-hole camera design, with the same 12MP selfie camera and Infinity-O display as the current flagship.

One of the most desired upgrades, faster charging speeds, may also not materialize. Samsung is expected to stick with 45W charging, a technology it has employed for several years. According to the tipster, it “might be 45W or between 50W”.

This decision could disappoint many users waiting for the Galaxy S26 lineup. As the tipster mentioned, for those with the existing adapter and a plan to upgrade next year, you may feel the need to buy another adapter with extra packaging and added harm to this planet.

The S26 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset in some regions, with others potentially receiving the Exynos 2600. While this promises improved processing power, it remains to be seen how significant the performance gains will be over the S25 Ultra.

Waiting for the Galaxy S26 Ultra was previously considered a good idea for those who aren’t in urgent need of an upgrade, as this year’s flagships offer only a few minor upgrades. But, if the rumors are true, Samsung’s approach to the S26 lineup isn’t any different.
