According to some news, the future Galaxy S21 will have Bixby Voice as a biometric authentication method. Samsung’s Virtual Assistant will integrate this feature where users will be able to unlock the device using only their voice.
This new feature is a part of Samsung’s One UI 3.1 software, an update that will begin its journey through the brand’s most premium smartphones. After being updated in the next S21, it will most probably also arrive at this year’s Galaxy S20 and Note 20 mobiles.
A greater number of biometric security systems does not mean that the phone’s security will increase, it is simply an alternative to facial recognition. For now, the fingerprint reader is the most trusted system, as opposed to using the face to unlock the phone.
Many of the smartphones that integrate facial recognition analyze the face of their users with the front camera and artificial intelligence software. The manufacturers themselves warn of the mistakes that these programs can make and confuse people. Only those mobiles like the iPhone have a reinforced method that includes a dot projector that emits a beam of light that reflects 30,000 dots on your face, invisible to the human eye, but which are captured by the infrared camera and allows all the characteristics of the face to be accurately assessed.
With voice recognition, safety could also be compromised with a voice recording. Currently, there are programs that fake other people’s voices and have been used to deceive the phone and impersonate people.

According to some information, a verbal password will unlock the phone, just like when we activate the virtual assistants by saying “Hello Bixby” or “Ok Google”. The password should be complex enough so it would not be activated in a normal conversation with other people. When the feature is activated on premium phones in a few months, this new unlocking method can be tested.
