Project xCloud will have its own application for Smart TV. Project xCloud, Microsoft’s game streaming service seems to be continuing its expansion beyond mobile phones, trying its luck not only with consoles and computers but even with smart TVs.

Latest rumors pointed out the possible arrival of a remote control and a TV connector of their own, similar to those used by the Google Stadia. Phil Spencer also confirmed the future arrival of a dedicated xCloud application for Smart TV.

  • Project xCloud will be compatible with Windows 10 computers with ARM
  • Xbox will bring Project xCloud to TVs next year
  • Microsoft will bring xCloud and Game Pass to iOS

Despite the clear prominence of the new generation consoles, the trend towards the digitalization of the video game industry and the important role that gaming services are beginning to play did not take long to emerge. Thus, with a mobile market almost completely dominated (with the great problem of Apple), the focus ended up drifting towards the next big scenario, the Smart TVs.

So, when asked what’s holding Microsoft back when it comes to launching an Xbox or xCloud app for TVs, Spencer responded with a resounding, “I think you’re going to see that in the next 12 months.” Given the total lack of knowledge of a similar service by its main competitor, this xCloud expansion would undoubtedly give Microsoft a very significant advantage, almost completely eliminating the need to acquire additional hardware to play, limited exclusively to the possession of any TV-compatible controller.

Project xCloud will have its own application for Smart TV. A very clever move that would completely combine with the company’s latest move to include, at no additional cost, this streaming service in the Game Pass Ultimate, making your subscription even more efficient with the inclusion of a growing catalog with over 150 titles including some of the company’s latest releases, keeping the user always within its ecosystem.
