If you are one of the many players that are confused by the Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles, don’t worry. Chapter 4 of Resident Evil 4 Remake is significantly longer than the original, offering us the enormous Lake to explore in addition to a ton of extra items. The symbol puzzles, though, are one of the key challenges you’ll have to work out in two distinct locations. These are stone alters with numerous buttons that feature symbols that you might not be familiar with.

Read our tutorial below to learn how to solve the Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles because you’ll need to do so to progress through Chapter 4. If you are having trouble with any other puzzles in the game, keep this article as a joker guide whenever you need it: All Resident Evil 4 Remake puzzles: Church and more

How to solve the Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles?

Chapter four’s Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles play a significant role as you look for a means to enter the church and release Ashley from jail. The church key is on a pedestal in the Mural Cave where you find it, but alas, it is locked behind a device and two enormous stone hands.

You must sail around the lake and its cave shrines in your newly acquired boat, solving a few challenges along the way, to collect two stone heads to bring back and place into each hand. To obtain the two stone heads and release the church key, you must solve the cave puzzles in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Large Cave Shrine puzzle

You can travel by boat to the Great Cave Shrine, where the Apostate’s Head is located, but once you reach there, you’ll discover a pedestal outside a locked door that needs to be unlocked by pressing three of eight symbol buttons set in a circle. The following buttons must be pressed:

  • The top right
  • The top left
  • The bottom middle

The door will open and you can take the Apostate’s Head if you’ve struck all three.

Small Cave Shrine puzzle

The second shrine containing the Blasphemer’s Head is on the other side of the lake in a smaller cave, and you’ll once again have to press three symbol buttons out of eight to open the door. What you need to press here is:

  • The bottom right
  • The bottom left
  • The left

Go inside now and take the Blasphemer’s Head. Don’t forget to take the third hexagon piece for that puzzle from this area as well.

Getting the church key Insignia from the Mural Cave

You merely need to return to the Mural Cave with the Apostate’s Head and the Blasphemer’s Head to place them on the two hands on either side of the locked pedestal. This will break the seal and let you obtain the Church Key Insignia, allowing you to return to the church to locate Ashley.

Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles are only one of the many challenges you will face in the game. While dropping power kicks and creating beautiful action scenes, the game often requires you to look for clues and landmarks all over the place. If you are not yet a Resident Evil 4 Remake player, check out the game’s Steam page and see if you are intrigued by such challenges.
