The business is developing a new “shorten” function. Opera ChatGPT will use artificial intelligence and offer bulleted summaries of the item or webpage you’re reading. A ChatGPT-powered tool that creates condensed summaries of web pages and articles will be available in the sidebar of Opera. The “shorten” function is a component of the company’s larger intentions to include AI tools into its browser, much like Microsoft is doing with Edge.

When the Opera ChatGPT tool is launched in all browsers, you may enable the function by clicking the “shorten” button to the right of the address bar, as demonstrated in a demo that is part of Opera’s blog article. From there, a ChatGPT sidebar will appear on the left and provide a tidy, bulleted summary of the article or webpage you are viewing.

Opera ChatGPT and the browsers’ race of artificial intelligence

Only a few days have passed since Microsoft unveiled the AI-powered Bing and Edge. While the company’s search engine will provide users access to an AI chatbot that offers annotated responses to questions, Edge will come with an AI “copilot” that can summarize webpages or articles and create text for social media postings and other things. This week, Google also demonstrated Bard, an AI search bot that isn’t yet accessible to people for a demo.

Per Wetterdal, Opera’s head of strategic partnerships and AI ecosystem, says in a statement: “We are excited to see the rapid roll-out of developer programs for solutions such as Google Bard, for example, and are starting to build and roll out new experiences in web browsing that not very long ago seemed impossible to achieve.”

But not everyone has access to the “shorten” feature yet. According to Jan Standel, Opera’s vice president of marketing and communications, it will “launch in browsers very soon.” Other AI-powered features that “augment” the browsing experience are also being developed by Opera, and it also has plans to bring “popular AI-generated content services to the sidebar.” However, it’s not yet apparent what exactly this may involve.
