Tesla revealed its wireless charging platform, which it said was “inspired by the metallic aesthetics and angular appearance of Cybertruck.” The concept is remarkably similar to Apple’s unsuccessful attempt at a device set to be dubbed the AirPower, despite the outside appearance appearing to be based on the Cybertruck.

Tesla wireless charging platform is here to replace a ghost product from Apple

In 2019, Apple halted development of the AirPower, claiming it was unable to meet its “high standards” for the charging station. For a while, there were rumors of overheating problems, but since then, other businesses have tried to fill the gap left by wireless charging pads. These businesses currently include Tesla.

Tesla describes their wireless charging platform as:

‘’Inspired by the angular design and metallic styling of Cybertruck, our Wireless Charging Platform provides 15W of fast charging power per device for up to three devices simultaneously. Its sleek design is composed of an aluminum housing, the premium Alcantara surface, and a detachable magnetic stand that allows you to lay the charger flat or at an angle for better viewing. Featuring FreePower® technology, which charges your Qi-capable devices such as phones or earbuds placed anywhere on its surface without precise alignment.’’

You will be able to charge Apple devices on Tesla wireless charging platform

It’s difficult not to see this as Tesla’s attempt to bring AirPower to life. Nevertheless, Apple Watches won’t work with the Wireless Charging Platform. Any item you set on the pad will receive a 15W quick charge from the Tesla charger, but the gadgets must support Qi wireless charging. This implies that, contrary to what the AirPower promised, you still won’t be able to charge your Apple Watch alongside your AirPods and iPhone.

Your device’s positioning doesn’t matter on the Tesla wireless charging platform

Tesla Wireless Charging Platform’s brilliance is that your device doesn’t need to be placed on the pad with extreme precision. With the help of its removable magnetic stand, you can also position the charger flat or at an incline. A USB-C cable is used to power the 65W power adapter that powers the Wireless Charging Platform.

FreePower powers the Tesla wireless charging platform

It should be noted that FreePower, with its free-placement wireless charging mechanism, actually manufactures the charger’s internal components. So consider this to be more of a Tesla skin over the wireless charging technology of FreePower.

Its elegant design allows you to charge up to three devices at once

The well-made wireless power supply from Tesla has an Alcantara surface to shield the smartphone from dings. Additionally, the phone has a removable magnetic stand that let users set it flat or at an angle. A 65W converter is additionally included with the device to power the wireless charging pad.

Due to its exquisite design, the pad can accommodate goods like two telephones and a charging case for TWS earbuds. Tesla claims that the devices can be placed anywhere on the charging surface and that precise alignment is not necessary.

When will the Tesla wireless charging platform be available to purchase?

Pre-orders for the Tesla wireless charging platform are currently open, however, Tesla states that shipments will begin in February 2023. We do not have any information about the official sales price of the product, which comes with a preorder price tag of $300.

According to Tesla, this is the box content you get when you pre-order a Tesla wireless charging platform:

  1. Wireless Charging Platform
  2. USB-C cable integrated with wireless charger
  3. 65W USB-C power adapter
  4. Magnetic detachable stand
