Exynos 1080 is the new mobile processor of Samsung, which has appeared on the test sites with very good performance scores. This product aims at mid-range mobile devices and it will be the next version of Exynos 980.
Samsung is one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers on the planet and has its own line of Exynos branded processors created under the license from ARM, as well as others such as Apple. The company uses them in all types of devices, but in high-end smartphones, they also use Qualcomm’s chipsets, depending on the country where each model is marketed.

Samsung wants to lead the mid-range market with Exynos 1080. It was able to beat the Snapdragon 865 Plus, Qualcomm’s most powerful model right now, in CPU performance in some synthetic benchmarks.
Exynos 1080 employs a classic design with an eight-core CPU, two Cortex-A78 for high-performance tasks and six Cortex-A55 cores to reduce power consumption in basic tasks. The GPU will be the Mali-G78 in a configuration very similar to that of the current Exynos 980.
Exynos 1080 will use 5-nanometer technological processes that will allow cost savings, design improvements and greater energy efficiency. The rumors indicate that the official announcement of this product is very close and Samsung will use it in a new smartphone with 5G and for the mid-range of the market.
If the results in the tests are real, that means, Samsung is one step closer to beat Qualcomm’s high-end product. If that is the case, Exynos 2100, will be able to compete with its rivals, including Apple. Let’s see if Exynos 1080 will offer a good performance or not.
