The Instagram Trend Predictions Report for 2023 was recently released, and it attempts to highlight the top, emerging trends for the future year among Gen Z users, based on user insights, survey data, and more. Though we’re not sure about the process – according to Instagram:

“Our findings, included in this report, began with a simple question about summing up 2023 in one word. Our top responses: Healing, Energized, and Main Character Energy.”

The primary body of the 22-page paper, which you can see here, outlines five significant trend areas:

  • Alt Takes On The Metaverse
  • The Financial Renaissance

Instagram Trend Predictions Report for 2023 has a tacky design in some places

Each trend has its own page, as well as an emoji associated with that trend: The summaries provide some intriguing remarks that may be useful in your preparation. From a marketing standpoint, some of the major data points given include:

  • More members of Generation Z will donate to causes and communities in 2023.
  • In 2023, more than half of Gen Z social media users want to acquire fashion or beauty inspiration from digital avatars or influencers.
  • Two-thirds of Gen Z customers want to purchase skincare or cosmetics products that protect against harsh weather and sun exposure.
  • More than half of Generation Z respondents stated they intend to make their own garments in 2023.

There is some insight to take from the report

Though we’d bet against on more than half of Gen Z producing their own garments, another remark implies that thrift shopping will expand, which we regard as a more realistic alternative. The research also examines creator patterns, with Instagram finding that nearly two-thirds of Gen Z users intend to generate money on social media in 2023. Instagram has been attempting to expand its choices in this area, and it’s intriguing to see such a high number of respondents interested in monetizing their social media postings. We’re curious about the survey’s target population, but based on this, a lot more individuals will be searching for income prospects in social media apps in 2023.

Instagram Trend Predictions Report for 2023 is available online for anyone to check out

The study itself appears to have been put up by folks who believe they are up to date on the newest trends but aren’t. That doesn’t negate the numbers and insights provided, but we’re not convinced the report summary is as useful as it might be. And the fonts and styles utilized are… mediocre.
